Sometimes we find ourselves confused or overwhelmed by the mist of everyday activities. Rising above the mundane, there is a clear purpose in every useful act. Do you ever feel like you're knocking your head against a wall? It takes humility to seek the narrow path that leads to the 'still waters.' As we begin to solve the problem of being our view of ourselves and others begins to change. First we become more purposeful and colorful, then our purity is discerned and we lose some of our trappings until universal Love begins to be understood. In all of my paintings, parts of the image are cropped off the page. This is to signify that there is more than meets the eye, a bigger scene or idea behind it. The lily seems out of place and unsustainable in this hostile environment, yet there it is, glorious without limits!

Perhaps the origin of our universe is more gentle than first speculated. Our sense of Mind naturally expands with understanding. So-called natural disturbances bend and twist the direction and form of flowers and peoples lives, but those disturbances cannot destroy our being, and can actually invigorate the stalwart. Our personality seems to be formed more or less by our personal history, every day bringing new joys and trials that add to the texture of what we call “us.” If we believe this claim, we have many reasons and excuses for why we are the way we are. . . continued . . . This is the moment that Jesus commanded "Cast the net" from the fishes' perspective. Some go without hesitation, some are watchers, some are confused, some leave and some go without being called (are unprepared). "My sheep (fish?) hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." John 10:27,28

Gifts from children, in what ever form, are always acceptable. The vertical is rock; the intersecting horizontal is sprouting with life. Truth, symbolized by the rock and Life symbolized by the plants unite in one central theme. The seed, already white with harvest awaits a breeze. Our fruition awaits no external force, but is waiting only to be trusted, believed and then understood.

Discover the beauty of this so-called weed. The two traditional methods of cleansing are by water and by fire. As we are cleansed we fly above the tumult untouched until it disappears. Soul's rhythm dances with the "pnuma" attracting cohesion and balance.

Truth or "The Great Architect" is approached from many different political and religious orientations. From any individual's point of view, comparisons might appear as a mighty tumult, but Truth is still beautiful and forever the same. We all have invitations to this party. Attendance is not required, but we have all arrived and eagerly await our options. Recognize the source of all good as your own and you will see this likeness reflected face to face. When we are ready, when we give up our agenda, we shall be there at the entering in of the light. Inspired by Ezekiel 46:1-3. The gate of the inner court that looks toward the east is symbolic of the prophetic star followed by the wise men and the prince who enters through it is Intelligence.

Different people are at different stages in their spiritual growth. Here I represent some of those stages as individuals seeing light through a mist and reacting to this light in different ways. Exuberance and a sense of grand scale mark our first successes, feeding an expectation of plentiful thought harvests. Do you remember watching a flower grow out of a rock? No, but refined forms follow primary. These are not cut flowers, but a living, dynamic progression, not fully seen at the moment, but unfolding according to a grand plan, a bouquet that nature had formed in its own beautiful way.

Not a specific place but a state of mind - light coloring and penetrating every object of the scene before you. I like to think of these sheep as the ones who were present with the shepherds who were "keeping watch over their flock by night." The sheep are also a visual metaphor for the shepherds who were watching. Inspired by Jesus' saying, "Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching:..." Luke 12:37 Inspired by Jesus' saying, "Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching:..." Luke 12:37

We usually see life and growth from the outside, from external observation, but knowledge of life is best understood from within. Through introspection of life experience we get the whole picture. Outward appearances are deceptive. Right where privation seems to be, a fresh promise gushes forth. Nature illustrates its own genius ... an indication of present intelligence. Symbols of patriotism and peace reflect, to some degree, the Father/Mother.

The ice plant blooms on sand dunes along the misty and windy CA coast. They are energized by their circumstance. Q: How does one go out into all the world and still not be of the world? We usually think of fringes on the outside, enhancing our visual appearance. Looking deeply within the edges of our insight we may discover Soul.

From a child's point of view, mastering a small challenge like climbing onto a branch of a tree can seem wonderfully significant. Each step leads to better views and more joy. This is my interpretation of my daughter, Joy's, view of herself. What did Moses turn aside to see? It was not a physical phenomenon. A careful look at the point of light reveals the tree to be partly translucent. I'm attempting to illustrate the spiritual idea attracting the patriarch. My daughter, Marette, daydreaming on Grandpa's tractor.

Perspectives from the forest floor. We usually think that light makes things grow but is unaffected by the growing object, however, there is a symbiotic relationship between Cause and effect. One cannot exist without the other. I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. Rev 22:16 Walking through the forest is sometimes a maze of seemingly disconnected patterns. We catch glimpses of form only as the edges of the puzzle fit together. In our lives we sometimes have to step back of ourselves to see how each experience is a pattern that has added meaning as it is connected with other experiences.

Here the 'fisher' is a stalking heron out in the lake. All the fish are in the foreground; they will not go near the night fisher. In the Bible, Peter could not catch anything without his Master's guidance. Age and endurance have nothing to do with life or identity. Identity is fixed. Nature demonstrates its beauty in the same way as an idea demonstrates its principle, seeking only an opportunity.

Dissatisfied with personal experience, we churn the patterns of history in search of relief until it appears. Happy relationships spring from wholeness. If we wish to companion with someone we must first learn to be a companion. Stretching to the sky Master of the forest lights the way.

Life includes a determination to persevere under whatever circumstances, to persist in the search for fulfillment. The clear white crystalline form on the left reflects the blossoming tree as if to encourage it. On the opposite side is a dark crystalline form dimly reflecting shadows of the tree as if to discourage, disappoint. Living in a place where everything radiates light there should be no shadows. Therefore the shadow is illegitimate. The pillar of a cloud by day encircled and protected. It gave comfort and protection as an example of true womanhood. The pillar of fire was not land based. It gave strength to man -- to move forward and upward.

I once went walking in a field of high dry grass in the California hills. The only color I saw as I looked across it was brown. Then I looked down at my feet and from that perspective the beautiful Poppy was blooming everywhere. Looking at something with new eyes brings new ideas into view that were ever - present. Formal training is always pedagogical and therefore without thorough understanding. Life experience and practice of those lessons provides the faith to move forward. We may want to help someone because we can.

Focusing on the ideal, we glide forward through storm laden human events without fear. Ignorant or repulsed by it, we retreat. Apathetic, confused or weary, we do nothing waiting for another day. Adam found himself outside the garden because he disobeyed God's command, "Don't eat from the tree of good and evil." Ever since that departure we have been searching for the way to re-enter the kingdom. Shouldn't it involve being obedient? When thought rises to a higher, nobler, plane, there is sometimes an impulse that causes a great and sudden stir in one's thinking. This change breaks old barriers, turning upside down everything that we believed to be true. This picture illustrates the moment of turning. Subtle ether is what we don't see, the hidden purpose, the potential joys and fears just out of sight that need to be exposed so that we will have the wisdom to be wise.

Small spontaneous moments renew and strengthen the affections. Solid Truth, as an impervious wall, halts the tidal waves of fear, passion and despair. Have you ever lain on your back in the forest? Play the sky!

Understanding an idea completely often requires many steps and stages of thought. Here I was experimenting with representing these steps and stages. The outer edges of the picture are sketchy and evolve into clearer color and form toward the center, just as our eyes focus on the subject and surrounding objects are less distinct. Some sunflowers naturally turn and face the sun. Here, in the early dawn, only one flower has felt the light and turned. Truth patiently waits for us to feel its warmth and turn. Good ideas begin in humility, rise upward and become independent of the personality who first heard them. Here the red shapes, passing through the blades of grass and rising into space, illustrate this truth. Barriers of time and space fail and "Now" is.

Meaningful relationships have both a surface and deep-settled beauty. That which lies within animates joy. The past is like grains of sand behind us. We live in the present, above the sand and move toward the light. Intuition, trust and true companions help us on. The world looked at Jesus' tomb and saw a dead man, a lost cause, abject poverty. The Magdalene saw the beginning of a promise fulfilled. Infinity cannot be contained in the finite, however infinity must be manifest there or it would not be infinite. Yes!
